Scholastic Reading Kick Off

The time has come for us to start promoting Summer Reading! 

If you have students return our Summer Reading Success Workshop invitation (blue paper), PLEASE send those to me (Mrs. Benitez).

Students will be able to login to Scholastic Summer Reading using CLEVER!!! So they do not need to remember a new username & password, it will be their google account information! YAY!

Promoting Summer Reading

For the remainder of the school year you will start to see calendars from Aldine Public Library & Barnes and Noble with Events for our students (and your own kids). 

We want to make sure that we are encouraging our students to read over the summer, we do not want to see the Summer Slide happen to our students. 

Book Check-Out


The last day for book check-out was April 20th (for students)!

All Library Books will be due May 4th (for students)!
All Library Books will be due May 25th (for teachers)!



Starting May 7th, I will start sending notices home twice a week with overdue and late books.

***Please make sure students understand they will not get their report cards without taking care of overdue and lost books***

Bookmarks

Over the next couple of days you will receive two different book marks! 

One of these book marks give usernames & passwords for our Online Databases, and the other one gives usernames & passwords for Ebook Access ALONG with information for Scholastic Summer Reading!

BOGO Book Fair

Our Bogo Book Fair is almost here!!! Set up should begin Wednesday or Thursday! 

Thursday you all will be able to start shopping!!!

Friday we will have our Summer Reading Kick Off with Parents, after the presentation Parents will be able to come shop at the book fair. 

Monday - Wednesday students will be able to shop!!! It is only 3 days, so please make sure to send students to purchase!

Our goal is to sale 2,520 books!!!

Book Fair Sign Up

Scheduling Your Class for Book Fair

This Book Fair is going to be very different than most that we have. The library will be shut down in the mornings for testing, which means Book Fair is SHUT DOWN in the mornings for testing. 

Please schedule a time to bring your students down to the Book Fair, if they are not scheduled to come during rotation. 

IF you send students down, please only send TWO students WITH A PASS to the Book Fair. 

IF it is their Ancillary time, THEY MUST request permission from whom ever they are with (Ancillary Teacher). Please do not send them at the beginning of Ancillary without permission from the Ancillary teachers.

Book Fair

Staff please make sure to come make your purchases no later than 11 tomorrow morning. I will be shutting down, and if your items are still on the back counter they will be put up.

EXTRA LIBRARY CHECK OUT

Starting next week, I will have an additional check out time, in the 400 Collaborative Space. 

I know that I only see some of you ONCE during our 15 day Rotation, so this should help us to get our students new books regularly. 

I will be Library on a Cart, during normal ancillary and we will meet in the 400 Collaborative Space as well as extra check out times.

The BLUE highlighted areas are the times that you may send TWO students at a time to the Collaborative Space for EXTRA Check Out.

ALL REQUESTS

Book Requests: Please email me with book requests that you need. (Be advised if you are requesting books, if they are ordered from other campuses they MAY OR MAY NOT make it in the time you need. So please give me at least 1-2 week notice.)
Lamination Requests: Remember to please give me up to 2 day turn around, and each yard cost $1
Poster Requests: Posters are $1 for small posters and $1.50 for larger posters
Die Cut Requests: Please fill out the form in the RED bucket on my desk and put the request on my keyboard or in my hand!
