Final EdTech Check for 2016

Good morning all!

Here’s your final edtech check of 2016. Let’s wrap this half of the school year up with four main points.

Your classroom Check list. Everyone room on campus must go through the following steps to shut down all tech in their classrooms. I will be coming to every room on campus today to make sure that we all are leaving our spaces a holiday safe zone.

First: Make sure you store all Chromebooks inside of your Chromebook cart and lock your carts.

Next: Shutdown and power off all PCs (student and teacher) in your classroom. Make sure to disconnect all cords and cables from the wall.

Finally: Make sure you power off all
remaining technology inside your classroom. This includes your projector, document camera and any printers.

Please do not leave any personal/mobile devices out in your classroom. Each classroom will receive a CLOSEOUT Checklist. Once completed, tape it to the outside of your classroom. I will come by to collect them at the end of the day.

Update on CSEW.  Thank you all for sharing CODE in your classrooms! If you haven’t already, please turn in your computer science logs. I will give out prizes upon our return from break. The students are still coding and the hope is that we can take a step further for the 2nd ½ of the school year! Please share this video with your students on just how Greenspoint Elementary explored Computer Science.

WANTED: Students for the Aldine Film Festival.
Start thinking about what role(s) some of your students could play in this event.

If you would like to enter for students (who can be decided later), you can enter them HERE. Want to learn what this is all about, click HERE  for more details. Teacher participation will be expected (with support of your itech).

Enjoy your break! Yes. Really. That’s it. Well, kind of. While we are all enjoying family, getting lots of rest and relaxation, and also preparing for the new year--take a few minutes to reflect on 2016 and the first half of this school year and how far we have come…

Flashback moment:

We have come a very LONG way! Reflection is important. You don’t know where you are going if you don’t look back at where you have been. #foodforthought

If you have some time...and you completely get that learning happens ALL the time, check out this AWE-mazing learning experience that can take place from your own home (and you never have to see anyone)
